You have found your perfect outfit for the wedding but there is no such thing as perfect. The dress fits like a glove, the veil is exquisite and stunning, the shoes are elegant and classy…but they hurt. In our endeavor to find the perfect pair of shoes, we are so often willing to choose a size a little bit too small. Smaller shoes always look great when we try them on. It makes our feet look more elegant. Even if you purchased the right shoes, a new pair always takes time to become comfortable. If you want to dance the night away in your wedding shoes on your special day, read on.
If the wedding is the first time you will wear your shoes after buying them you are asking for trouble. They will hurt, they will give you blisters and you will be in pain before the speeches are even done. In hot or stressful conditions your feet will swell and your shoes will be responsible for the remaining damage. Here are some tricks to save your feet from the pain.
Wear them in at home
The easiest solution to wear your shoes in is while watching TV at night. You don’t even need to walk around in them! Just pop them on and you will slowly become used to them. You could also wear them while you sleep at night if you are really committed.
Wear with socks
If they are too tight you can put on a pair of socks, the thicker the better, and it will give the shoes that extra stretch to make them comfortable for the big day. I know a few brides who were saved by this little tip.
Use the hairdryer
Heat expands, so with your socks and shoes on start to run the hairdryer around your shoes. This will do for some little extra stretching.
Bring a second pair of shoes
If none of the above works, bring a second pair of shoes that you can dance and feel comfortable in for the second half of the day. It can still be classy and elegant. It is simply a little more functional.
