The perfect wedding day is completely different for everyone you ask. Some will describe a simple wedding with close family and friends, others will talk about crowds of hundreds of people cheering, some will say they just want to escape with their partner to an exotic location. However, few, if any, will say that their perfect wedding day is one where Tom Hanks shows up unannounced. No one would say it because no one would think of it. However, for many, it would be an amazing outcome.
That is exactly what happened to Elisabeth and Ryan on their wedding day. After a beautiful ceremony in New York, the couple was whisked off to Central Park for a photoshoot. While taking some photos in the beautiful surroundings a jogger stopped to chat with the happy couple. It took the happy couple and their photographer only a moment to realize it was the incredible Tom Hanks.
While a celebrity appearing at your wedding or the photoshoot after is a cool idea, it likely never turns out to be as great as you think. While Shia LeBeouf turning up to the afters of your wedding sounds great, he would probably get drunk and start abusing your great aunt Sally. Gal Gadot coming to your special day sounds cool but no bride likes to be upstaged. That is why Tom Hanks is the perfect celebrity to show up. He is wholesome, he is sweet, he is kind, he has no skeletons in his closet. He is a down to Earth gentleman and is the perfect person to make a brief appearance at your party.
Tom Hanks paused his jog and approached the couple to offer them his congratulations. He kissed the hand of the bride to be and shook the hand of the lucky groom. He posed for selfies that he took with his phone and stayed around to be in a couple of the official photographer’s shots. We just hope he was at the beginning of his jog as no matter who he is we know that Elisabeth would not want anyone ruining her wedding dress with their sweat.
Meg Millar is the photographer in question and she posted an incredible photo on her social media account that captures Tom Hanks shaking hands with the groom while the bride Elisabeth is in the background clearly overjoyed with the surprise visitor. Although the wedding had already taken place Tom didn’t miss the opportunity to offer his services as an officiator. Tom is an ordained minister and said he would have been happy to marry the couple if they needed it.
It just sounds like Tom is a genuinely good person who stopped to say hello to a happy couple. Someone who has so much in his life and manages to remain so down to Earth is a great thing to witness. Meg Millar said that in general, the joggers were being really respectful of the photoshoot and visibly trying to stay out of the way of the photoshoot. Occasionally she had to stop to let the occasional jogger pass but even then they ran quickly. That was except for one jogger who stopped in the middle of the photoshoot, took off his hat, and said: “Hi, I’m Tom Hanks”. Clearly, he knew he would make their day even better and he absolutely did.
There are so many celebrities living in New York that nearly every person there has a special celebrity moment story that they can share. Very few have a celebrity moment like Elisabeth and Ryan’s though. To have one of the best (ok THE best) celebrities turn up during their photoshoot and act as an absolute gentleman was the perfect addition to their already perfect day.
