When you think of someone’s wedding day, you likely think of the couple standing in front of friends and family while sharing the love that they have for each other. One couple decided to share their love with other people when they got married.
Tyler and Melanie Tapajna realized that many couples had to forego the wedding celebration that they had planned because of COVID restrictions. They knew that they didn’t want to let anything stop them from having the ceremony that they wanted. They also knew that they wanted to share their love with as many people as possible because that’s how they live their lives.
After the couple got married, they decided to share the food from their reception with some of the homeless people in their community. When they realized that close to 150 people were supposed to be at their wedding and reception, they knew that they wouldn’t be able to hold the traditional event that they had planned because of restrictions set forth in the city where they lived. However, they didn’t want all of the food that was ordered and prepared to go to waste.
A small ceremony was planned for the couple’s close friends and immediate family members so that they could partake in the exchanging of the couple’s vows. The couple had already made plans with the catering company and several other services, so they had to make a few alterations in order to pull off their wedding like they wanted. They knew that they didn’t want to just throw out enough food to serve over 100 people.
After talking about who would benefit the most from the food that they had, the couple decided to give it to those who were in need the most. They consulted with Laura’s Home, an organization in their community that works with the homeless and those who don’t have the ability to purchase much food. The organization told the couple about some of the women and children who needed help the most at the time so that they could receive some of the food available. Along with giving the food away, the couple wanted to serve the food to the homeless as well.
The couple held a ceremony that was quite intimate. After the ceremony, they left the venue to go to Laura’s Home so that they could get ready to meet the people who needed food. The couple stayed in their wedding attire while putting on gloves, a mask, a hairnet, and other safety equipment so that they would be prepared when they served the food.
The reception wasn’t really what the couple had in mind. They knew that it was a better event because they were able to help other people. They were able to share goodness with those who needed someone to love them on the most special day of their lives.
Even though the couple had to figure out a way to have their wedding and change a few plans to ensure that their original plans could still be carried through, they wouldn’t have it any other way because women and children were able to benefit from what they had ordered. They didn’t have to spend any extra money to feed the people who were at the organization. Those who received the food were appreciative and were happy to celebrate with the couple. The food served was prepared by a food truck that the couple enjoyed using as well as a catering company. Hamburgers, toppings, a few sides, and a few desserts were on the menu for the women and children to enjoy.
